Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, July 2025 — JioStar has announced the appointment of Ishan Chatterjee as Chief Executive Officer – Sports & Live Experiences, further deepening his leadership mandate within the Reliance media ecosystem. In his expanded role, Ishan will continue to serve as Chief Business Officer – Sports Revenue, SMB & Creators, while now spearheading the strategic evolution of JioStar’s sports and live entertainment verticals.
Ishan joined JioStar in 2024, and in under a year, he has been instrumental in transforming sports monetization, empowering creator ecosystems, and building scalable revenue strategies across platforms. His new role reflects the company’s confidence in his vision to drive innovation at the intersection of sports, content, and audience engagement.
Prior to joining JioStar, Ishan spent over 13 years at Google and YouTube, where he held several high-impact global roles. Most recently, he served as Managing Director – YouTube India, overseeing the platform’s growth, product adoption, and content strategy in one of its fastest-growing markets. He also held leadership positions such as Managing Director – Product Partnerships (APAC) and Director – Google Play (EMEA), working across Singapore and London.
Earlier in his tenure at Google, Ishan was Director – YouTube Product Partnerships for APAC Emerging Markets, where he scaled YouTube’s regional ecosystem through product innovation and content enablement. He also served in strategic roles including Director – Global Client and Agency Solutions, Global Client Leader, and Industry Head – FMCG for Google’s top accounts.
Before his global tech journey, Ishan began his career at Unilever, where he handled marketing and sales across home and personal care categories. He later joined McKinsey & Company, serving clients in the media, technology, and consumer sectors as an Associate and then Engagement Manager.
Ishan holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. His appointment underscores JioStar’s commitment to redefining the future of sports and live entertainment in India through strategic leadership and immersive innovation.
