In his new role, James will spearhead the development of intelligent, AI-driven platforms that transform physical spaces into seamlessly responsive digital experiences.
With a career spanning over two decades, James brings a rare blend of deep technical expertise and product vision. Prior to joining CommonX, he served as CTO at Slyngshot, where he led the creation of an AI-powered startup platform that helped founders turn ideas into funded ventures. Simultaneously, he held the role of CEO at Apophis Consulting, offering fractional CTO services and delivering scalable engineering, AI, and DevOps solutions to startups and enterprises alike.
Earlier, James held the position of Chief Technology Officer at Bellum, and was also a senior technology leader at Launch Consulting Group, where he directed large-scale software implementations for clients like Carnival, Caesars Entertainment, and the U.S. Air Force. As a co-founder of Ottemo, Inc., he built a mobile-first commerce platform that delivered strong ROI for mid-market retailers.
James’s leadership roots trace back to high-impact roles at Julep Beauty, Zumiez, and Microsoft, where he served in multiple global strategy and evangelism roles including Sr. Program Manager for SQL Azure. He also contributed thought leadership as an editor for the .NET community at InfoQ, and began his career as a systems engineer and software lead at Global Crossing and BroadVision, supporting enterprise-scale digital transformations.
