Richmond, Virginia, November 2024 – Jennifer Keyser Salzman has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). In her new role, Jennifer will focus on advancing VCU’s HR strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a workplace culture of inclusivity and innovation. She will lead HR operations, including executive search, employee relations, benefits, and HR information systems, to deliver high-quality service and support VCU’s mission of driving transformation and curiosity.
With over 25 years of HR leadership experience, Jennifer brings a wealth of expertise in HR strategy, total rewards, and workplace transformation. Most recently, she served as the Managing Director & Owner of Strategic Compensation Solutions, LLC, where she designed and implemented total rewards programs, provided change management guidance, and worked with higher education institutions to drive operational improvements.
Prior to this, Jennifer was the Vice President, Total Rewards at Sentara Healthcare, where she developed a vision for total rewards aligned with the company’s high-performing culture. She collaborated with executive leaders to influence talent strategies and drive business outcomes.
Her tenure at Korn Ferry as a Senior Principal in Advisory, Total Rewards, saw her advising clients on compensation structures and organizational strategies, focusing on aligning HR initiatives with business goals. Jennifer has also held leadership roles at organizations like CarMax and the University of Virginia, where she spearheaded compensation reforms and enhanced HR operational efficiencies.
Earlier in her career, she served as the Human Resources Director at Piedmont Virginia Community College, where she led HR functions and Title IX initiatives, and as a Compensation Director at the Federal Reserve System, where she developed and managed compensation programs across multiple regions.
