Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States, July 2025 – Jennifer Smith has been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources at Consumers Credit Union, marking a significant career milestone after nearly 16 years of dedicated service to the organization. In her new role, Jennifer will lead the credit union’s strategic HR initiatives, talent development programs, and organizational culture efforts to support continued growth and innovation across its expanding network.

Jennifer most recently served as Human Resources Manager for over five years, where she played a pivotal role in talent acquisition, employee relations, and leadership development. She was instrumental in aligning HR policies with the organization’s values and growth strategy, driving employee engagement, and strengthening internal capabilities.

Prior to this, she held the position of Senior Recruiter & HR Specialist for nearly six years, where she led end-to-end recruitment efforts and supported key HR projects that contributed to the credit union’s talent pipeline. Earlier in her tenure at Consumers Credit Union, Jennifer also served as Marketing Specialist and Member Service Representative, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the organization’s mission from front-line service to strategic HR leadership.

In addition to her corporate role, Jennifer is also an Adjunct Instructor at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where she has been teaching HR certification preparation courses for nearly five years, covering topics like employee engagement, labor relations, and business strategy. Her passion for developing future HR leaders is evident through this academic engagement.

Jennifer’s earlier career includes over five years as Office Manager & Marketing Specialist at Birch River LLC, where she managed operations and coordinated major non-profit events. Her diverse background brings a rich mix of strategic, operational, and community-focused experience to her new executive position.
