London, England, United Kingdom, July 2025 – Jessica Steel has been appointed as the Head of Human Resources UK at Canopius Group, marking a new chapter in her accomplished career as an HR leader. In her new role, Jessica will oversee all people and culture functions across the UK operations, bringing her extensive experience in strategic HR business partnering and organizational transformation to a global insurance group.
Prior to joining Canopius, Jessica worked for over seven years at Castleton Commodities International, where she held the role of Executive Director, Senior HRBP and European Head of HR Operations. During her tenure, she provided strategic HR leadership across European markets, managing large-scale change and leading HR operations with a focus on governance, compliance, and people engagement.
Before that, Jessica served nearly four years as Global HR Business Partner at DWF, a top 20 international law firm. She worked closely with senior partners and executive leadership to drive people strategies in alignment with firm-wide objectives, overseeing change management, employee relations, and company-wide integration initiatives.
Jessica also spent over six years at Santander UK, where she served as Senior HR Business Partner for global business units. In this role, she partnered with EXCO members and supported diverse departments including Global Banking Markets, Finance, and Retail Banking. She played a key role in talent planning, organizational restructuring, and union negotiations, establishing herself as a trusted HR advisor at the executive level.
Earlier in her career, Jessica held HR roles at HSBC, Grant Thornton UK, The Economist, and KPMG UK, where she honed her expertise in HR operations, employee relations, and performance management. She holds a Master’s degree in Personnel and Development from the University of Westminster.
