Sydney, Australia, October 2024 – Jo Brown has been appointed as the new Head of People and Capability at MPA, where she will lead HR strategy, people development, and cultural initiatives. In her role, Jo will focus on fostering a positive, inclusive work environment, supporting employee growth, and driving engagement across the organization. With over 15 years of experience, Jo is excited to enhance MPA’s culture and implement innovative HR programs that help attract, retain, and develop top talent.

Jo has been with MPA for three years, previously serving as the People and Capability Manager. In this role, she successfully led initiatives to strengthen leadership development, employee engagement, and talent acquisition processes, playing a key role in driving organizational success.

Prior to joining MPA, Jo was the HR Manager at The Hotel School Australia, where she helped manage HR operations and supported educational and internship programs across several campuses. Her focus on employee engagement and operational efficiency greatly contributed to the school’s growth and reputation as a leading hospitality education provider.

Before that, Jo served as Group HR Manager at HGL Limited, an ASX-listed investment company, where she provided strategic HR direction to a group of companies specializing in premium product distribution. Her role involved leading programs on leadership, performance, and culture, which played a key role in the development of their business strategy.

Jo’s extensive experience also includes roles at the Australian Veterinary Association, Citibank, and Suncorp, where she held senior HR positions and developed expertise in leadership development, change management, and talent management across various industries.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
