Nairobi, Kenya, May 2026 — Kelly D. Ochieng has been appointed as Head of Markets Corporate Sales at Standard Chartered, marking a significant career milestone for a seasoned banking and treasury professional with nearly two decades of experience across corporate banking, treasury sales, global markets, and investment banking. In his new role, Kelly will lead the bank’s Markets Corporate Sales business, focusing on strengthening client relationships, delivering structured financial solutions, and supporting corporate clients across increasingly complex market environments.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Kelly spent almost 14 years with Stanbic Bank Kenya, where he held a series of progressively senior leadership roles within the Global Markets division. Most recently, he served as Head, Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), Global Markets Sales, leading strategic client engagement, structured product origination, sales execution, and business growth initiatives. During his tenure, he also undertook a leadership assignment as Acting Head – Global Markets Kenya & South Sudan, overseeing the Global Markets business and providing strategic direction to the team.
Earlier at Stanbic Bank Kenya, Kelly served as Senior Manager, Global Markets Sales (Structured Sales) and Manager, Global Markets (Treasury) Sales, where he specialized in treasury products, structured solutions, foreign exchange markets, risk management, and corporate client advisory. He also played a key role in originating and executing structured financial solutions, driving cross-selling opportunities, and helping corporate clients navigate market volatility through treasury and capital market products.
Kelly began his banking career at Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Ltd, where he spent nearly five years in treasury and financial markets roles. As a Forex & Money Market Trader, he managed foreign exchange trading, money market operations, asset and liability management, and fixed-income investment activities. Earlier, he completed the bank’s Graduate Management Trainee Program, gaining broad exposure across branch banking, corporate relationship management, risk operations, treasury, international banking, finance, and operations.
