Singapore, November 2025 — Goldman Sachs has announced the appointment of Kunal Katarya as Vice President, marking a significant milestone in his technology and quantitative engineering career. With a diverse background spanning financial technology, quantitative development, and cloud engineering, Kunal brings a strong record of innovation and technical leadership to his new role at one of the world’s leading financial institutions.
Kunal joined Goldman Sachs in 2024 as an Associate, contributing to the GitLab SDLC team, where he worked extensively on application development using Java and Golang, infrastructure deployment through Terraform and AWS, and site reliability engineering (SRE) initiatives leveraging Prometheus and Grafana. His work in optimizing development workflows and cloud infrastructure underpinned multiple enterprise-grade automation programs across the firm’s technology stack.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Kunal Katarya served as a Quantitative Developer at Squarepoint Capital, where he reduced ML data-processing runtimes from 18 hours to just seven minutes through advanced refactoring and parallelization techniques. He also built and deployed automated backtesting and screening tools for commodities traders using a modern CI/CD stack integrating GitLab, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD.
Kunal’s earlier roles include Cloud Team Lead and Junior Data Scientist at Resync, where he led a six-member engineering team to overhaul cloud infrastructure and deploy scalable energy forecasting algorithms. His hands-on experience with Python, GCP, Kubernetes, and data engineering was instrumental in enhancing Resync’s operational efficiency. He also brings prior experience from Morgan Stanley, where he developed secure distributed systems using Apache Kafka and RedHat Ansible, and from Imperial College London, where he pursued machine learning research on adversarial attacks in neural networks.
As Vice President at Goldman Sachs, Kunal will focus on scaling advanced technology solutions that support the firm’s Global Banking & Markets and Asset & Wealth Management divisions, with an emphasis on cloud-native architectures, automation, and high-performance computing. His appointment reinforces Goldman Sachs’ continued investment in engineering excellence and innovation.
