Basel, Switzerland, March 2026 – Mukul Mehta has stepped into the role of Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Executive Committee at Novartis, marking a significant milestone in his long-standing journey with the organization spanning over two decades.
Mukul has been associated with Novartis for over 23 years, beginning his career with the company in Switzerland. Most recently, he served as Head of BPA, Digital Finance and Tax, and earlier as CFO International, where he played a critical role in shaping financial strategy across global markets. His elevation to CFO reflects his deep institutional knowledge and leadership across finance, strategy, and transformation.
Prior to these roles, Mukul served as Chief Financial Officer, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and earlier as CFO, Novartis Business Services, where he contributed to strengthening financial operations and enabling business transformation. His earlier leadership roles include Regional CFO, Pharma Europe, as well as Country CFO roles in France, Poland, and Norway, where he managed large-scale pharmaceutical businesses and led cross-functional finance teams supporting strategic growth.
Earlier in his career at Novartis, Mukul held global finance leadership roles including Head of Finance GPS&C and Head of BPA, Global Development, as well as Global Head of BPA, Development, where he led large global teams and managed multi-billion-dollar R&D budgets, contributing to long-term strategic planning and development initiatives.
Reflecting on his journey, Mukul shared three key principles that have shaped his leadership philosophy: the importance of purpose in driving meaningful work, the belief that transformation begins with individual action, and the need to stay curious and continuously evolve.
