Burlington, Massachusetts, United States, October 2025 – Scientific Systems, an industry leader in developing AI-powered autonomy for defense applications, has announced that Kunal Mehra has been named Chief Executive Officer. Mehra succeeds his father and Scientific Systems founder Dr. Raman Mehra, who will continue with the company as Executive Chairman.

Kunal Mehra will lead the implementation of company strategy at a time of rapid growth, driven by the rising demand for cutting-edge autonomous solutions to address a new generation of threats facing the military. A graduate of Columbia University, Mehra most recently served as the President of Scientific Systems. He joined the company in 2005 after working as Vice President of Strategy and Market Development at Equitant Inc., a business process outsourcing (BPO) provider that managed over $50 billion of revenue on behalf of leading companies including Microsoft, Cisco, Lucent, and Hewlett Packard. Equitant was acquired by IBM in 2005.

“We are at a critical point in history given the importance of AI-powered autonomy to maintain our supremacy on the battlefield and protect our nation. I am honored to continue the work that my father started and lead Scientific Systems into the next stage of its growth as we develop the cutting-edge technology our military needs,” said Kunal Mehra, CEO of Scientific Systems. “Scientific Systems has over 30 years of experience in the realm of artificial intelligence and an unmatched record of success in providing solutions for the Pentagon. We are now poised to lead the charge into a new age of autonomy and shape the future of national security.”

Founded more than 30 years ago by retiring CEO Dr. Raman Mehra, Scientific Systems has grown from a small team into a major defense technology innovator. The company recently opened a new 28,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts, positioning it for continued expansion.

“Our company, which began with humble roots, has made incredible technological breakthroughs that have saved lives on the battlefield and equipped the warfighter with the world’s most effective AI-powered autonomy,” said Dr. Raman Mehra, Executive Chairman of Scientific Systems. “I am incredibly proud of what the Scientific Systems team has accomplished over the past three decades and I am excited about what the future holds for our company. Nobody understands our company’s values, culture and the pride we take in our work better than Kunal. He is the right leader at the right time to maintain our progress and lead this company into a new generation of technological breakthroughs and expansion.”
