Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — J M Baxi Marine Services, part of the 108-year-old J M Baxi Group, has announced the appointment of Kunjal Thackar as Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO). A highly accomplished finance leader with nearly three decades of experience across energy, infrastructure, logistics, oil & gas, utilities, and emerging growth businesses, Kunjal will lead the finance function for the Marine Services vertical and support the organization’s strategic growth agenda.
In his new role, Kunjal will oversee financial strategy, capital allocation, governance, risk management, business planning, and value creation initiatives across the Marine Services business. Prior to joining J M Baxi Marine Services, Kunjal served as Chief Financial Officer and Co-Founder at Ayekart, where he was responsible for the entire finance spectrum including financial planning, accounting, taxation, legal compliance, auditing, investor relations, and strategic business growth initiatives. During his tenure, he played a key role in building and scaling the agritech-focused business while supporting investors and stakeholders through a high-growth phase.
Before Ayekart, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Head HR at H-Energy Group, part of the Hiranandani Group, where he led Finance, Accounts, Information Technology, Human Resources, Administration, and CSR functions while working closely with the promoter family office on strategic initiatives.
Earlier, Kunjal was Chief Financial Officer at Pipeline Infrastructure Limited, a Brookfield Company, where he led finance, taxation, procurement, audit, and contracts for one of India’s largest gas pipeline businesses. Prior to that, he spent more than six years as Chief Financial Officer and Director at Hiranandani Group’s Infrastructure and Energy Division, leading finance, taxation, IT, audit, and governance functions across multiple business locations and energy assets.
Before joining the Hiranandani Group, Kunjal held senior leadership roles with Gujarat Gas Company (BG Group) and BG Group, both in India and the United Kingdom. During his tenure, he led large finance teams, enterprise-wide planning and budgeting initiatives, SAP implementation programs, operational transformation projects, tax optimization efforts, and major cost-efficiency initiatives. His international exposure included serving as Principal Accountant at BG International, United Kingdom, where he played a key role in implementing global planning and forecasting systems across multiple geographies.
Earlier in his career, Kunjal held finance leadership positions with HPCL, where he was involved in budgeting, management information systems, investor relations, financial planning, corporate accounting, and regulatory compliance. These experiences provided a strong foundation for the strategic and operational leadership responsibilities he has undertaken throughout his career.
Over the years, Kunjal has earned a reputation for driving financial excellence, strengthening governance frameworks, optimizing capital efficiency, leading transformation initiatives, and enabling business growth through disciplined financial management. His extensive experience across both large enterprises and high-growth organizations positions him well to support J M Baxi Marine Services in its next phase of expansion.
