Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, November 2025 — Laura Emery has been appointed as Director, Talent Development – Asia Pacific at Stryker, a global leader in medical technologies. In her new role, Laura will lead strategic talent development initiatives across the Asia Pacific region, focusing on building leadership capabilities, strengthening learning frameworks, and driving a culture of growth and innovation in one of the company’s fastest-growing global markets.

Laura has been part of Stryker for more than eight years, progressing through a series of impactful roles that reflect her strong leadership and human resources expertise. Most recently, she served as Senior Human Resources Business Partner, where she supported key business units by aligning people strategies with organizational goals, fostering engagement, and developing future-ready talent pipelines.

Before that, Laura worked as HR Business Partner and Associate HR Business Partner, during which she contributed to driving HR excellence and supporting leaders in developing agile and high-performing teams. Her earlier tenure as Senior Talent Acquisition Business Partner saw her play a critical role in refining Stryker’s recruitment strategies, ensuring the organization attracted high-potential talent that aligned with its values of integrity, accountability, and performance.

Laura began her journey with Stryker as an HR Analyst, where she built foundational expertise in HR systems, analytics, and process optimization. Prior to joining Stryker, she worked with Hudson as a Psychometric Assessment Coordinator, where she specialized in behavioral assessments and talent evaluation—experience that continues to inform her data-driven approach to HR strategy and leadership development.

Education

Laura holds a Master of Human Resources Management from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where she developed a deep understanding of organizational behavior, strategic HR, and leadership development frameworks.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
