Tullahoma, Tennessee, United States, September 2025 — Ascend Federal Credit Union has announced the appointment of Laura Miller as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). With more than 25 years of extensive HR leadership experience across credit unions, financial services, and corporate organizations, Laura brings a proven record of building strong people strategies, advancing employee engagement, and leading workforce transformation.
Laura joins Ascend Federal Credit Union after serving as Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Interra Credit Union, a role she held for five years. During her tenure, she focused on developing leadership talent, enhancing associate experience, and implementing HR programs that supported the credit union’s growth and member-focused culture.
Prior to Interra, she was with Citi as Vice President, Human Resources Lead Generalist, where she provided strategic HR leadership across business units in the Tampa/St. Petersburg region. Earlier, she worked with Allied Aviation Services in a corporate HR role, strengthening her expertise in workforce management and organizational development.
Previously, Laura held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer at TTCU Federal Credit Union for five years. In this role, she was responsible for leading people strategy, talent management, and employee programs in alignment with the organization’s mission to serve members effectively.
Her longest tenure was with AAA Oklahoma/South Dakota, where she spent 16 years as Vice President of Human Resources. She oversaw end-to-end HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, and organizational development, making a significant impact on HR practices across the association.
Laura began her HR career at WilTel Communications (later acquired by Verizon) as a Human Resources Representative – IT Recruiter, before moving to Verizon as Supervisor, Employee Benefits. These early experiences gave her a strong foundation in HR operations and employee support.
