Liz Preece Appointed as Head of People at The Industry School

Brisbane City, Queensland, Australia, October 2024 – Liz Preece has begun her role as the Head of People at The Industry School. In her new capacity, Liz will oversee the strategic human resource planning and operations for the school, ensuring alignment of HR practices with the organization’s goals and fostering a supportive and high-performing workplace culture.

Before her current role, Liz Preece served as the Acting Head of People at The Industry School for five months, during which she was instrumental in driving key HR initiatives and providing leadership to the People team. Her contribution in this interim position highlighted her ability to manage talent acquisition, compensation, and employee engagement strategies across the organization.

Previously, she held the position of Senior People & Culture Business Partner at The Industry School, where she was responsible for business partnering, talent acquisition, compensation, and workplace health and safety. Liz’s expertise in performance management and employee engagement allowed her to streamline HR processes and foster a positive work environment.

Prior to her time at The Industry School, Liz worked at Collins Foods Limited as the National Traineeship Lead, managing national employee lifecycle programs for KFC and Taco Bell. Her work in developing employee strategies and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations played a critical role in the company’s operations across multiple sites.

Her earlier experience at Collins Foods also includes a tenure as the Learning and Organisational Development Specialist, where she led several learning programs and personal development initiatives for restaurant managers and head office teams, building a strong culture of leadership and performance excellence.

Before this, Liz gained valuable experience as a Senior Human Resources Advisor, managing key HR projects, including compensation management, employee relations, and talent acquisition, contributing to the overall growth and development of Collins Foods.

About The Industry School:

The Industry School (formerly the AITC) offers a unique curriculum that enables Years 10, 11, and 12 students to pursue careers through apprenticeships or traineeships. With a focus on integrating education and industry experience, The Industry School operates across six locations in South East Queensland and proudly reports a 98% completion rate of the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) among its graduates.
