Lupin Appoints Tech Veteran Rakesh Bhardwaj as Chief Information Officer

Mumbai, March 8, 2024 – Lupin Limited, a global pharmaceutical leader, announced yesterday the appointment of Rakesh Bhardwaj as its Chief Information Officer (CIO). Based out of Mumbai, Bhardwaj will lead the Information Technology function globally and be at the helm of the company’s ambitious digital transformation efforts.

Rakesh Bhardwaj comes to Lupin with an impressive background, boasting over thirty years of experience in fostering and managing state-of-the-art global IT teams and systems across some of the world’s largest enterprises. Before joining Lupin, Bhardwaj held the position of Group Chief Information Officer at Ola, further adding to his rich leadership portfolio with stints at Cognizant, Microland, General Electric, and BISIL. He is an alumnus of Gulbarga University, Karnataka, holding a bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science.

A Strategic Move for Lupin’s IT and Digital Ambitions

Ramesh Swaminathan, Executive Director, Global CFO, and Head – Corporate Affairs at Lupin, expressed his enthusiasm for Bhardwaj’s appointment, emphasizing the pivotal role of Information Technology in pushing the boundaries and expanding Lupin’s global footprint. “We are delighted to welcome Rakesh to Lupin. His deep expertise and visionary leadership in IT will significantly enhance our digital capabilities, helping us set new benchmarks in innovation and excellence within the pharmaceutical industry,” Swaminathan commented.
