Bristol, Indiana, United States, June 2024 – Michael Lewandowski has taken on the role of Vice President Human Resources at The Shyft Group, marking a new chapter in his distinguished career. With extensive experience in human resources leadership, Michael is set to drive HR strategy and operations at The Shyft Group.

Michael Lewandowski has been with The Shyft Group since March 2021, where he served as Director, Human Resources. In this role, he provided HR leadership and strategy for the $800MM Fleet Vehicle & Services Division, known as “Utilimaster.”

Prior to The Shyft Group, Michael was the Director, Human Resources at Genesis Products in Goshen, Indiana, from March 2020 to March 2021. He brought valuable HR insights and leadership to the organization during his tenure.

Michael also held the position of Sr. Director, Human Resources at Ryder System, Inc. in Novi, MI, from June 2016 to February 2020. Here, he was instrumental in HR activities and projects across the company’s operations.

At Volkswagen Group of America in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Michael served as Director, Human Resources from September 2010 to May 2016. He was responsible for HR activities and projects across the VW/Audi Supply Chain network.

Michael’s career also includes significant roles at ZF Group (formerly TRW Automotive) as Senior Human Resources Manager, where he oversaw HR for automotive manufacturing operations, sales, and engineering functions from January 2008 to September 2010.

His early career saw him with Quebecor World for over a decade, where he advanced from Human Resources Representative to Human Resources Manager, overseeing HR operations for a 600+ employee non-union manufacturing plant.

Michael’s foundational experience in HR began with the US Navy, where he served as an Electronics Technician from November 1990 to December 1996. He was responsible for shipboard maintenance and repair of mission-critical radar and radio communications equipment on the USS Hayler (DD 997).

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
