Tampa, Florida, United States, December 2025 — Saltmarsh has announced the appointment of Michael McLaughlin as Head of People, effective December 2025. In this role, Michael will lead the firm’s people strategy, talent management, employee experience, and organizational development initiatives, supporting Saltmarsh’s long-term growth and commitment to being a trusted advisor to its clients.
In his new role at Saltmarsh, Michael McLaughlin brings a strong background in human resources leadership, talent management, and organizational development. As Head of People, he is responsible for shaping people policies, strengthening leadership capability, and enhancing employee engagement across the firm while aligning HR strategy with business objectives.
Prior to joining Saltmarsh, Michael spent over four years at Baker McKenzie, where he most recently served as Senior Human Resources Business Partner in Tampa. In this role, he acted as the Head of HR for the Tampa Center, served on the leadership team, partnered closely with the Executive Director, managed HR budgets, led employee relations, supported global HR initiatives, and developed training programs across multiple employee levels. He also played a key role in performance management, HR analytics, and the implementation of the firm’s HRIS.
Earlier at Baker McKenzie, Michael worked as a Human Resources Business Partner, where he led people strategy across recruiting, learning and development, employee engagement, DEI initiatives, performance management, and talent programs. He was instrumental in revamping new joiner orientation, strengthening the employee value proposition, creating high-impact engagement initiatives, and supporting firm-wide talent and compensation processes.
Before Baker McKenzie, Michael held progressive roles at The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) as Talent Manager, where he led global performance management and career frameworks, and at Greenway Health, where he worked as Organizational Development Manager and Talent Management Business Partner, driving executive talent reviews, succession planning, leadership development, and performance development processes. His early career also includes HR roles at Bankers Financial Corporation and hospitality experience at The Westin Key West Resort & Marina, providing him with a well-rounded foundation in people operations.
Michael McLaughlin holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Human Resources from Florida State University (2017–2018).
