Los Angeles, California, United States, September 2024 – Michelle Kwait has joined Herbalife as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). In her new role, Michelle will lead the HR team and oversee the development of an infrastructure that will accelerate performance and cultivate the culture of excellence that Herbalife is celebrated for. She brings a wealth of experience spanning several decades and industries, including hospitality, retail, consumer packaged goods, financial services, and education.
Before joining Herbalife, Michelle served as CHRO at UPSIDE Foods for one year and seven months, where she led human resources initiatives, focusing on talent acquisition, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness. Her time at UPSIDE Foods helped shape the company’s HR infrastructure during a period of significant growth.
Prior to her role at UPSIDE Foods, Michelle was the CHRO at Tysers, a leading professional services firm, for five years. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in integrating multiple acquisitions and developing a global talent management strategy. She also introduced key programs in leadership development and performance management, resulting in a stronger, more cohesive organizational structure.
Michelle spent six years as the Vice President of Human Resources at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, where she built a robust talent acquisition function and created successful recognition and leadership development programs. Her contributions also included building a market-competitive compensation structure and driving employee engagement initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Michelle worked as the Director of Human Resources & Learning & Development at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. for three years. During her time there, she led a critical reduction in force and restructured the talent management and performance measurement process. Her leadership helped streamline operations and elevate the company’s talent development framework.
Michelle’s early experience includes five years as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Heald College, where she developed HR strategies for a non-profit educational institution, and two years at Stanford University as Director of Human Resources, responsible for HR operations for the Office of Development and Alumni Association.
