London, England, United Kingdom, September 2025 – IES Utilities Group Ltd has appointed Neil Kirkby as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. With over two decades of senior leadership across the utilities, energy, and infrastructure sectors, Neil is set to lead IES through its next phase of growth and transformation. Breandan Flynn, who previously served as CEO, now steps into the role of Executive Chairman, continuing to provide strategic direction to the organization.
Neil Kirkby brings to IES a stellar record of operational leadership, having most recently served as Managing Director at SSE Enterprise, where he played a pivotal role in its transformation into SSE Energy Solutions—a key player in distributed energy supporting clients on their decarbonization journey. His board-level contributions extended to SSE’s telecoms venture, and he was instrumental in driving digital energy transition strategies.
Prior to SSE, Neil served as Managing Director, Global Power Networks at Balfour Beatty plc, and earlier as CEO of Enterprise Ltd. With over 23 years of senior leadership experience, including 19 years at Executive Committee and Main Board level, Neil has led M&A initiatives, large-scale infrastructure projects, and complex business transformations in both listed and private equity-backed environments.
