Nolda Tipping-Griffioen Appointed as Chief Information Officer and Director of the Centre for IT at the University of Groningen

Groningen, Netherlands, July 2024 – The University of Groningen is excited to announce the appointment of Nolda Tipping-Griffioen as the new Chief Information Officer and Director of the Centre for IT, effective July 1, 2024. Tipping-Griffioen will be at the forefront of advancing the university’s digital initiatives at the Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology & AI.

Nolda Tipping-Griffioen expressed her enthusiasm about her new role and the opportunity to contribute to the education of over 37,000 students. “I’m excited to contribute to the interesting developments at the Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology & AI,” said Tipping-Griffioen. She also acknowledged her past experiences and collaborations, stating, “I will certainly miss my great colleagues at Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) but look forward to working with all the great people I have met so far at the University of Groningen.”

Prior to joining the University of Groningen, Tipping-Griffioen served as Director of IT Education at Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) from August 2020 until her recent transition. During her tenure, she was responsible for the IT infrastructure, software services, cyber security, data privacy, and AI for the Education Implementation Agency of the Dutch Government.

Her extensive experience also includes a role as Advisor to the Board at Jubilant Ingrevia Limited from October 2023 to December 2023, where she played a significant role in steering the company’s strategic direction.

Before her advisory role, she served as CEO & Managing Director at Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd, from February 2021 to September 2023, contributing significantly to the company’s growth and innovation in life sciences.

Tipping-Griffioen’s career is further distinguished by her long-standing tenure at Shell, where she held various managerial and strategic positions, significantly enhancing operational and project management outcomes.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
