BEAVER FALLS, Pa., United States, May 2024—McDanel Advanced Material Technologies (“McDanel”), a subsidiary of Artemis, is pleased to announce Joseph (“Joe”) Hale as its new Chief Executive Officer. Joe Hale brings an extensive four-decade tenure in the industry, aligning with McDanel’s commitment to remaining a leading technical partner in advanced materials for sectors critical to human health, mobility, connectivity, and security.

Before joining McDanel, Joe served as the Chief Growth Officer at Qnnect and held the position of Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Hermetic Solutions Group. He is a well-prepared leader with academic credentials from Alfred University in Ceramic Engineering and an MBA from Nichols College.

In his new role, Joe will drive McDanel’s mission to excel in customer service and foster talent development and empowerment. “I am excited to join the strong team at McDanel and support their efforts to continue as a leader in the Advanced Materials market. McDanel is fortunate to have a solid partner in Artemis Capital, and I look forward to working with them to grow the organization,” Joe stated.

Artemis’ Operating Partner and McDanel Executive Chair, Rudi Coetzee, expressed his enthusiasm for Joe’s appointment, highlighting his vast experience and strategic vision in advancing materials. “Joe brings a wealth of experience and knowledge operating in advanced materials. We are specifically excited leaning on Joe’s growth focus commercial experience in the core markets of aerospace, defense, semicon, and medical we serve,” said Coetzee. Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
