Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, July 2026 — Nyrstar has appointed Wendy McMillan as Chief Executive Officer, Nyrstar Australia, marking a significant leadership appointment as the company advances its Australian metals modernisation program. Commencing 6 July 2026, Wendy will lead the Australian business through its next phase of transformation, working closely with government, industry, and commercial stakeholders to deliver operational excellence and long-term growth.
Wendy brings more than three decades of executive leadership experience across infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, and asset-intensive industries. Recognized for her expertise in business transformation, operational leadership, and stakeholder engagement, she has successfully led large-scale organizations through periods of strategic change while delivering sustainable commercial outcomes.
Prior to joining Nyrstar Australia, Wendy served as Senior Regional Vice President, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand at Wabtec Corporation, where she led regional operations and business growth across multiple markets. Before that, she held several senior executive positions at Bombardier Transportation, including President Australia and New Zealand, President South East Asia and Australia, and Managing Director, leading regional strategy, operational performance, and business expansion across the rail transportation sector.
Earlier in her career, Wendy served as Chief Executive Officer, Rolling Stock Development Division within Victoria’s Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, where she directed major rolling stock and transport modernization programs. She has also held numerous board and governance positions, including Non-Executive Director and Chair of the ESG Committee at Ventura Bus Lines, Board Member and Chair of the Major Projects & Procurement Committee at Queensland Rail, and Director of MPR Advisory. Her extensive leadership experience across public and private sectors uniquely positions her to guide Nyrstar Australia’s modernisation agenda and strengthen its role in supplying critical minerals and metals essential to the global energy transition.
