London, England, United Kingdom, February 2026 — Prakash Kakkad has been appointed Chief Legal Officer and Group Company Secretary of Unilever and will join the Unilever Leadership Executive effective 1 March 2026. Prior to this appointment, Prakash Kakkad served as General Counsel Corporate and Deputy Group Secretary at Unilever, and earlier as General Counsel Corporate Governance & Group Corporate Legal, playing a key role in shaping the company’s governance and legal strategy. Alongside his executive responsibilities, he contributes to the broader legal and governance ecosystem as a Non-Council Member of the Company Law Committee at The Law Society, an Independent Member of the Pre-Emption Group at the Financial Reporting Council, and a GC100 Member at Practical Law Global.
Before joining Unilever, Kakkad was Head of Governance – Global at BHP, where he led governance initiatives across international operations. Earlier, he held senior legal leadership roles at Barclays, focusing on global M&A and strategic transactions as well as corporate and treasury legal matters. He began his legal career at Herbert Smith Freehills and also gained experience with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, building a strong foundation in corporate and investment banking law.
