Providence, Rhode Island, United States, June 2026 — Citizens Financial Group has appointed Rajiv Muthyala as Chief Financial Officer, Capital Markets & Global Markets, strengthening its financial leadership team as the organization continues to expand its capital markets and global markets capabilities.
Muthyala joins Citizens Financial Group following an accomplished career spanning investment banking, financial services, treasury management, capital markets, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet management, and strategic finance leadership.
Most recently, he served as Global Head of FP&A, Markets at Citi, where he led financial strategy, capital allocation, performance management, and planning for Citi’s approximately $20 billion revenue Markets Trading business, overseeing a global finance organization across New York, Mumbai, and Costa Rica. In this role, he partnered closely with the Head of Markets and senior leadership team to drive strategic financial decision-making, capital optimization, revenue planning, and enterprise-wide performance management.
Prior to that, he served as CFO of Citi Ventures and Head of Corporate FP&A, where he oversaw financial strategy and portfolio governance for Citi’s strategic investments in fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, and emerging financial technologies, while also leading enterprise-wide planning and executive decision-support functions.
Earlier, Muthyala held leadership positions including Head of FP&A, Retail Services Credit Cards & Digital Lending Products, where he managed financial strategy and governance for Citi’s multi-billion-dollar retail credit card business, and Head of Institutional Client Group Balance Sheet & Capital Management, where he led global balance sheet, capital planning, liquidity management, and regulatory capital governance activities across Citi’s institutional businesses.
His career at Citi began within the Markets and Securities Services organization, where he supported fixed income, foreign exchange, credit, securitized products, and securities services businesses through strategic finance and capital allocation initiatives. Over nearly thirteen years at the firm, he progressed through five major leadership mandates across trading, treasury, balance sheet management, consumer finance, venture investments, and enterprise planning.
Before joining Citi, Muthyala held senior finance and treasury leadership roles at Barclays, where he served as COO for Treasury & Prime Services, leading strategic balance sheet optimization, funding initiatives, foreign exchange risk management, and fintech investment activities. He also held positions at Lehman Brothers, Cisco Systems, and Oracle Corporation, building expertise across capital markets, corporate finance, technology, treasury, strategic planning, and business transformation.
Muthyala holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
With more than two decades of leadership experience spanning capital markets, treasury, financial planning and analysis, strategic finance, balance sheet management, risk optimization, and business transformation, he brings significant expertise to Citizens Financial Group as it continues to strengthen its position in capital markets and institutional banking.
