University Park, Illinois, United States, October 2024 – Rebecca Vowell Markus has been appointed as the Associate Director of Human Resources Operations at Governors State University. In her new role, Rebecca will oversee and streamline human resources operations, ensuring efficiency in processes, employee relations, and business analytics across the university. With her extensive background in HR operations and business process improvement, Rebecca will lead key initiatives that support the university’s mission of delivering exceptional education and fostering a diverse workforce.
Rebecca has been with Governors State University for over eight years, most recently serving as the Human Resources Manager of Business Processes and Analytics for two years and eight months. In this role, she was instrumental in developing HR policies, managing payroll administration, and implementing business process improvements, which contributed to enhanced organizational efficiency.
Prior to that, Rebecca held the position of Human Resources Operations Manager for over two years, where she focused on employee relations, benefits administration, and system improvements to optimize HR workflows. Her role as an HR Generalist further honed her skills in onboarding, employment verification, and resolving HR-related inquiries.
Before transitioning into HR, Rebecca gained valuable experience at Rogers Enterprises Inc. where she served as an IT Helpdesk Technician and Payroll Assistant, managing payroll processes, providing tech support, and maintaining employee documentation.
Earlier in her career, Rebecca worked as an Office Manager, where she developed strong organizational and leadership skills that laid the foundation for her future HR roles.
