Oslo, Norway, October 2025 — Yara International, a global leader in sustainable agriculture and low-emission energy solutions, has announced the appointment of Rino Skarpnord as Global Head of People Development & Learning. In his new role, Rino will lead Yara’s global learning and talent development strategy, shaping the organization’s future-ready workforce through innovative, technology-driven learning frameworks and leadership development initiatives.
This appointment reflects Yara’s continued investment in building a high-performing and learning-oriented culture aligned with its mission to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet. Rino brings over two decades of experience in learning design, organizational development, and digital transformation to his new role, making him ideally positioned to advance Yara’s people growth agenda across its 60+ global locations.
Rino has been an integral part of Yara International for more than four years, progressively contributing to its learning and development strategy. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Head of Learning, where he led enterprise-wide programs in leadership development, capability building, and knowledge sharing. His focus on emerging technologies, corporate learning innovation, and employee development positioned Yara as a benchmark organization in strategic learning.
Before that, Rino held the role of Director of Digital Learning at Yara, where he spearheaded the company’s transition toward modern, digital-first learning ecosystems. His leadership helped embed new technologies and platforms to enhance organizational learning and future skills development across a diverse workforce.
Prior to joining Yara, Rino founded and managed Something odd AS, a learning consultancy firm, where he worked with clients across industries—including oil, gas, and maritime—to design and deliver blended learning solutions. Over nearly a decade, he advised large and mid-sized organizations on instructional design, e-learning, and learning technology integration, while also conducting training in communication, presentation, and pedagogical design.
Earlier in his career, he held pivotal roles at DNV GL, where he served as Principal Consultant, managing global e-learning and governance projects, and at the University of Oslo, where he contributed as a Senior Engineer responsible for technology-supported training and LMS administration. His experience across academia, consulting, and corporate sectors gives him a comprehensive perspective on human capital development in global organizations.
