Greater Sydney Area ,Australia, February 2026 — Sarah Chemouni has stepped into the role of General Manager – People & Culture at Freedom Australia, marking a significant leadership milestone within the organisation.
Sarah’s elevation follows her impactful tenure as Acting GM People & Culture and previously as Head of People & Culture, where she led end-to-end people strategies across Australia and New Zealand. In this capacity, she partnered closely with the Freedom Leadership Team to drive workforce planning, talent management, industrial and employee relations, leadership development, performance management, engagement, and culture design. Her remit supported more than 38 retail stores and five distribution centres across the region.
Prior to Freedom, Sarah built a strong HR leadership foundation at The Arnott’s Group, where she held multiple senior roles including People & Culture Business Partner – New Zealand, HR Business Partner – Field Sales ANZ, and Talent Management Lead – APAC. During this period, she contributed to organisational design, change management initiatives, and talent strategy transformation across the ANZ and APAC markets.
Earlier in her career, Sarah held talent acquisition and recruitment leadership roles at Woolworths Group, supporting large-scale hiring across multiple divisions and functional areas. Her experience spans retail, FMCG, and large, multi-site operations, positioning her as a seasoned leader in people strategy and culture transformation.
In her new role as General Manager – People & Culture, Sarah will continue to shape Freedom’s people agenda, fostering a high-performance culture and enabling teams to thrive across its growing retail footprint.
