Hyderabad, Telangana, India, November 2025 — Coromandel International Limited, part of the Murugappa Group, has announced the appointment of Sharad Kalghatgi as Group Vice President – EHS and Sustainability. With over two decades of global experience across chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, and food sectors, Sharad brings a distinguished track record in environmental governance, process safety, ESG leadership, and sustainable operations.
In his new role, Sharad will lead Coromandel’s enterprise-wide EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) and sustainability agenda, focusing on strengthening safety governance, embedding sustainability into operations, and enhancing ESG performance across business units. His leadership will be central to driving the company’s long-term vision of responsible growth and operational excellence.
Before joining Coromandel, Sharad held senior leadership positions at Jubilant Bhartia Group, Sajjan India Ltd / UPL, Cipla, and Mondelēz International, where he led transformative EHS and sustainability initiatives encompassing process safety, asset integrity, climate resilience, and carbon neutrality. His earlier career with Honeywell UOP, Shell, AstraZeneca, and Ciba built his foundation in chemical engineering, process design, and risk mitigation, allowing him to integrate engineering precision with sustainability strategy.
Throughout his career, Sharad has been instrumental in driving Industry 4.0-enabled safety innovations, developing high-performing EHS teams, and creating enterprise frameworks that have achieved carbon-positive, water-positive, and zero-waste-to-landfill operations. His work in digitization, automation, and cultural transformation has earned him multiple external recognitions for advancing sustainability excellence and occupational health leadership.
A graduate in Chemical Engineering with a Master’s degree in Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering, Sharad combines technical depth with strategic foresight, making him a transformative leader in the sustainability and EHS domain.
