California, United States, July 2024 – Shawn R. Athay has been appointed to the position of Chief Human Resources Officer at California Dairies, Inc. With over three decades of HR leadership experience, Shawn will now lead the human resources strategy and initiatives at California Dairies, Inc., contributing to the cooperative’s growth and success.
Shawn R. Athay has been with California Dairies, Inc. for nearly four years, serving as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources before his recent promotion. In this role, he was responsible for leading HR functions, including talent management, employee relations, and organizational development.
Before joining California Dairies, Inc., Shawn was the Vice President of Human Capital at Agropur. He participated as a member of the US Executive Leadership Team and led HR efforts across the company’s US operations, including human resources, loss prevention, and payroll.
Shawn also held the position of Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Glanbia Nutritionals, where he was part of the US Executive Leadership Team, overseeing HR and organizational development for various US operations. Prior to this, he served as the Vice President of Human Resources & Organizational Development at Glanbia for nearly eleven years, where he managed HR functions across multiple business units and locations.
Earlier in his career, Shawn was the VP of HR & Benefits Administration at J.R. Simplot Company, where he led health, retirement, and welfare benefit programs. He also held several key HR roles within the company, including VP of Human Resources for the Agribusiness Group, Director of Human Resources for the Dairy Division, and Administrative Manager.
Shawn began his career as a Personnel & Benefits Assistant Manager at Canfor USA, providing HR and benefits support to multiple units of Canadian Forest Products.
