Shoumyan Biswas Joins Practo as Global Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer

Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, India, May 2025 — Shoumyan Biswas has been appointed as the Global Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at Practo, India’s leading integrated healthcare company. In this new role, he will be responsible for spearheading marketing, strategic planning, and growth initiatives across Practo’s global operations, driving its vision to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable to all.

Shoumyan brings with him over two decades of deep cross-sectoral expertise in marketing, product, digital transformation, and strategy. Prior to joining Practo, he served as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Business & Product Head – Group Loyalty at Tata Digital, where he was instrumental in shaping the Tata Neu ecosystem and driving customer engagement through a robust loyalty platform.

Before his stint at Tata, he was associated with Rebel Foods as Business Head for Cloud Kitchen Brands and Chief People Officer, and earlier led its Direct-to-Consumer business. In these roles, he successfully scaled brands, optimized operational efficiencies, and led cross-functional teams in a dynamic digital-first environment.

Earlier, Shoumyan served as Chief Marketing Officer at Flipkart, where he also led Loyalty, Partnerships & Advertising. He played a key role in launching “Flipkart Plus,” building Flipkart’s brand strategy, and driving monetization with exponential growth. His contributions helped shape Flipkart into one of India’s most loved consumer brands.

He began his career in sales and brand management at Hindustan Unilever Ltd, where he held multiple leadership positions across marketing and customer development. He also had a brief stint as a Management Trainee at Pepsi India, building foundational skills in consumer marketing and business operations.

At Practo, Shoumyan’s mandate includes scaling customer acquisition through data-led marketing, enhancing user experience, and aligning business growth with long-term strategic objectives. His diverse experience across FMCG, e-commerce, health-tech, and digital platforms positions him uniquely to elevate Practo’s brand and impact globally.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
