New Delhi, Delhi, India, December 2025 – The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB), Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India, has recommended Shri Atul Gupta for the prestigious role of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) at Engineers India Limited (EIL). Prior to this elevation, he has been serving as Director (Commercial) at EIL, bringing with him over three decades of rich experience across engineering, commercial operations, and multi-domain project leadership.
In a distinguished career spanning approximately 30 years at Engineers India Limited, Shri Atul Gupta has worked across a wide array of critical domains, beginning his journey as a Management Trainee in 1992. A Mechanical Engineer from GBPUAT Pantnagar, he has contributed significantly to the execution of mega-scale projects across India and abroad, navigating diverse sectors including Refinery, Petrochemical, Pipeline, and Fertilizer. His early leadership years involved deep technical exposure across process engineering, design, construction, commissioning, procurement, and project management.
In subsequent years, Shri Atul Gupta took on multidisciplinary leadership responsibilities, steering large cross-functional teams across Engineering, Contracts, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Commercial Operations. His experience spans both greenfield and brownfield environments, where he played pivotal roles in the delivery of complex capital-intensive projects, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and performance standards.
As he moved into senior corporate roles after 2007, Shri Gupta continued to shape EIL’s strategic capabilities, contributing extensively to business development, commercial structuring, integrated project delivery models, and value creation through technical and commercial synergy. His tenure reflects a deep understanding of the engineering consultancy landscape and the demands of executing projects across global markets.
Over the last several years, Shri Atul Gupta has served as Director (Commercial) at EIL, where he was responsible for leading commercial strategy, client engagement, and contract operations. His comprehensive leadership experience, combined with three decades of institutional knowledge, positions him strongly to guide EIL’s strategic growth, technological expansion, and global engagement as its next Chairman & Managing Director.
