Smita Verma Kansal, as the newly appointed Chief Business Officer, will spearhead Groyyo’s international expansion efforts, leveraging her impressive track record of leadership in the fashion industry. Prior to joining Groyyo, Smita served as Senior Vice President at Geniemode, where she was instrumental in driving business operations, team leadership, and customer retention across India. Her strategic focus and operational expertise were critical in ensuring the company’s continued success.
Before Geniemode, Smita held the position of Senior Director of Operations at PDS Limited, overseeing operations for major retailers like KIK, Woolworth, and Family Dollar. Her leadership helped PDS expand its global footprint in the retail and sourcing industries. Smita’s earlier roles include CEO Business at Tex International, where she managed operations in India and Bangladesh for leading retailers, and Country Manager at Pepkor Global Sourcing (PGS), managing business development for major retail brands such as Pepco and Dunns.
Alessandro Bertini’s Career Journey
Alessandro Bertini, joining Groyyo as Vice President – Commercial, brings a wealth of expertise from his previous roles at leading fashion brands such as Mango, Zalando, and Inditex. Alessandro will be responsible for driving business development and strategic growth initiatives at Groyyo. Most recently, Alessandro served as Senior Partner at Fashion Marketplaces Agency in Dubai, where he successfully managed marketplace expansion and profitability for various fashion brands.
Alessandro’s impressive career includes leadership roles such as Director of Buying and Merchandising at 6thStreet.com, where he oversaw wholesale and marketplace businesses. At Zalando, he was pivotal in managing strategic partnerships and buying operations for both wholesale and private labels. Alessandro’s early career at Mango and Inditex’s Massimo Dutti involved key leadership positions in category buying, sourcing, and product development across multiple fashion categories.
