Salt Lake City, Utah, United States, November 13, 2024 – Sorenson, a global leader in communication solutions for Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard-of-hearing communities, has announced the appointment of Paget Alves as its new Chief Executive Officer. Alves, who has served as Chairman of the Board, will now lead the organization in its next phase of innovation and growth. Jorge Rodriguez, who has been at the helm since 2021, will transition to the role of Board Advisor, leveraging his expertise and advocacy to strengthen relationships with consumer and community groups.
For over two decades, Sorenson has been a pioneer in developing transformative communication technologies and services, enabling more than 140 million conversations annually. Alves’ strategic leadership as Chairman has been pivotal in driving the company’s dedication to innovation, operational success, and unwavering support for the communities it serves.

Alves brings over 30 years of experience as an operating executive in the telecommunications sector. He previously served as Chief Sales Officer at Sprint Corporation, where he also held leadership roles as President of the Business Markets Group. Alves is a director at Assurant, Inc., Synchrony Financial, Yum! Brands, Inc., and Ariel Alternatives—Sorenson’s parent company.
Recognized by Savoy magazine as one of the Most Influential Black Corporate Directors in 2023, Alves holds a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations and a J.D. from Cornell University.
