Pune, Maharashtra, India, October 2025 — WeiKFiELD Foods Pvt Ltd, one of India’s most trusted names in the food industry, has announced the appointment of Soumya Banerjee as Head of Research and Development, marking a key addition to its leadership team as the company accelerates its innovation agenda.
With over 18 years of experience in food science, product innovation, and research leadership, Soumya brings a powerful blend of technical expertise and strategic insight to his new role. Based in Pune, he will lead WeiKFiELD’s R&D function—overseeing product innovation, process optimization, and the creation of next-generation food products that align with the company’s mission of driving science-led, consumer-centric growth.
Before joining WeiKFiELD, Soumya spent over six years at Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd., where he rose to the position of General Manager – R&D. During his tenure, he played an instrumental role in developing differentiated food offerings, leading product formulation and improvement initiatives that enhanced both brand identity and consumer experience.
Prior to Jubilant, Soumya worked for more than six years at General Mills, where he contributed as Scientist II and later as Senior Scientist at the company’s Global Centre for Technology Creation. His work involved advanced R&D initiatives, food formulation innovation, and collaboration with global teams on new product development and process standardization.
Earlier in his career, Soumya honed his scientific foundation at CFTRI (Central Food Technological Research Institute), where he developed nutrient-enriched, diabetic-friendly, and infant food formulations as a Senior Research Fellow and Project Assistant. A graduate of Visva-Bharati University, Soumya’s deep understanding of food technology, biochemical analysis, and consumer trends positions him to steer WeiKFiELD’s R&D towards innovation excellence and sustainable product development.
His appointment reinforces WeiKFiELD Foods’ vision of driving innovation through science, technology, and consumer insight—continuing its legacy of over six decades as a brand synonymous with quality, trust, and taste.
