Seattle, Washington, United States, December 2024 – Steen Nielsen has taken on the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at HomeStreet Bank, where he will oversee the bank’s IT strategy, drive digital transformation, and strengthen the organization’s technological capabilities. Steen’s extensive experience in IT leadership, infrastructure design, and cybersecurity makes him a valuable addition to the bank’s executive team.
Steen has been a part of HomeStreet Bank’s IT leadership for over nine years. Prior to his promotion, he served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), where he successfully designed the bank’s IT infrastructure and spearheaded initiatives to enhance digital transformation and cybersecurity. During this time, he developed strategic IT roadmaps and managed the implementation of large-scale IT projects, solidifying the bank’s digital presence.
Before his tenure as CTO, Steen served as Vice President and IT Technical Services Manager at HomeStreet Bank. In this role, he led a team responsible for managing critical IT infrastructure projects, including the migration to advanced cloud solutions and cost-saving network redesigns. His efforts resulted in significant operational efficiencies, including annual cost savings of $2 million through infrastructure optimization.
Earlier, Steen was HomeStreet Bank’s Lead Network/Voice Engineer, where he implemented cutting-edge networking solutions and advanced collaboration tools to support the bank’s operations. His strategic approach to network management improved system performance and reliability.
Before joining HomeStreet Bank, Steen gained extensive international experience in telecommunications and IT engineering. During his 12-year tenure at Semco Maritime, he held key roles, including Site Manager and Senior Project Engineer, where he managed large-scale communication projects for offshore and onshore operations.
Steen’s early career as a Telecom Engineer with companies like Ncore and Finsen.net provided him with foundational expertise in designing and maintaining advanced communication systems, which set the stage for his future leadership roles.
