Hyderabad, Telangana, India, March 2025 – Cyient Ltd., a global leader in engineering and digital technology solutions, has appointed Sukamal Banerjee as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Director for a five-year term, effective February 19, 2025. Banerjee will also serve on the Board of Directors of Cyient Ltd.
His appointment follows the resignation of Karthikeyan Natarajan in January after Cyient reported a 28.3% YoY decline in Q3 profits. Before joining Cyient, Sukamal Banerjee was Chief Executive Officer at Xoriant, a Chrys Capital-backed digital engineering company, where he led business expansion and technology transformation. He previously spent 27 years at HCLTech, where he rose to Corporate Vice President, leading global digital engineering and IoT initiatives across the technology, semiconductor, and telecom sectors. At HCLTech, he held various strategic leadership roles, including Global Head of IoT WoRKS, Head of Industry Software Division, and Business Unit Head for Hi-Tech & Communications.
Banerjee began his career as an R&D Engineer at GeometricPLM, which later became part of HCL Technologies. He holds an MBA in Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) and has completed an Executive Education program in Artificial Intelligence at MIT Sloan School of Management.
