Gurugram,Haryana, India, October 2025 — Tarun Garg has been announced as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor Company India Ltd., marking a historic milestone as the company’s first-ever Indian to hold the top leadership position. The Hyundai Motor Company Board of Directors approved the succession plan, confirming that Unsoo Kim, the current MD, will return to South Korea to take on a strategic role at the parent organization effective December 31, 2025. Tarun Garg will officially assume charge as MD & CEO on January 1, 2026, signifying Hyundai Motor India’s strong commitment to local leadership and market-driven strategies.
With more than three decades of distinguished experience in the automotive industry, Tarun Garg brings a proven track record of business transformation, customer engagement, and strategic innovation. He has been associated with Hyundai Motor India Ltd. for nearly six years, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer, and earlier as Director – Sales, Marketing & Service. In these roles, he played a pivotal part in strengthening Hyundai’s market share, enhancing brand trust, and driving the adoption of new technologies in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets.
Before joining Hyundai, Tarun spent over 25 years at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, where he held multiple leadership roles including Executive Director – Marketing, Executive Vice President – Nexa, and National Sales Head. During his tenure, he was instrumental in launching Nexa as a premium automotive retail channel and building robust sales and service networks across India. His deep expertise in sales strategy, customer experience, and brand development has been central to his success in steering large-scale business growth.
A graduate of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, Tarun Garg is widely respected across the Indian automotive sector for his leadership vision, market acumen, and people-first approach.
