Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), following a selection process by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on November 30, 2023. This decision came after interviewing three potential candidates for the position.
Prior to this appointment, the position of MD at MRPL was vacant since June 1, 2023, with MRPL’s Director (Refinery) Sanjay Varma temporarily holding the additional charge of MD post. The recruitment drive for the new MD was publicized, inviting applications from eligible and interested candidates until September 8, 2023.
The role of Managing Director at MRPL is pivotal, serving as the Chief Executive responsible for overseeing the corporation’s efficient functioning, achieving its corporate objectives, and meeting performance parameters. The position commands a pay scale ranging from Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 3,70,000 (IDA), with the appointment duration spanning five years from the date of joining until the date of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
