TweetPostShareWhatsapp

Houston, Texas, United States, April 2025 — Axiom Space, a leading American space services company, has appointed Indian-origin executive Tejpaul Bhatia as its new Chief Executive Officer. His appointment comes at a strategic time, as the company prepares for a major milestone: Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s upcoming journey to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Axiom-4 mission.

In his role, Tejpaul Bhatia will lead Axiom Space’s efforts in shaping the future of human spaceflight, advancing the development of a new generation space station, and enhancing global collaborations in the space sector. His leadership coincides with Axiom’s increasing collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to facilitate Shukla’s historic spaceflight next month.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Tejpaul Bhatia served as a key leader at Axiom Space since July 2021, overseeing transformative human spaceflight missions, pioneering commercial space station development, and spearheading the creation of cutting-edge spacesuits.

Before joining Axiom, Bhatia held significant roles at Google, where he worked as part of the Office of the CIO, leading executive engagement and thought leadership initiatives around the future of work. Earlier at Google, he served as Startup Ecosystem Manager, where he galvanized the startup community by advancing the Google Cloud for Startups program across New York City.

Earlier in his career, he served as Entrepreneur in Residence at Citi, where he coached startup ventures through the D10X corporate innovation program. He also held leadership positions at Explain Everything Inc. as Chief Operating Officer, and founded Chatwala, a mobile video chatting application that gained notable recognition. Additionally, he co-founded Kaptur, a media-sharing platform that achieved significant growth and widespread acclaim.

Tejpaul Bhatia began his professional journey as a Developer at SapientRazorfish, later holding strategic roles at Sekani, Media Strategy Partners, and ESPN, where he contributed to the launch and expansion of ESPN’s digital streaming networks internationally.

With a career spanning over two decades at the intersection of technology, media, entrepreneurship, and space exploration, Tejpaul Bhatia is well-positioned to lead Axiom Space’s vision of building a thriving future in Low Earth Orbit and beyond.

Axiom Space
Axiom Space exists to create a thriving home in space that benefits every human, everywhere. As the International Space Station approaches the end of its operational life, Axiom is leading the charge by developing the world’s first commercial space station. Leveraging leadership with deep expertise across every ISS mission since its inception, Axiom supports expanded use of the ISS today and is building the next platform for governments, industries, researchers, and private explorers. The company’s mission encompasses enabling human space exploration, advancing in-space manufacturing, and creating groundbreaking opportunities in Low Earth Orbit to propel the future of humanity.
