Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, March 2026 — Macquarie Technology Group has appointed Raven David as Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He has stepped into the role after serving in progressive security leadership positions within the group, reflecting Macquarie’s focus on strengthening cyber security governance and capability as it supports mid-to-large business and government customers.
In his new position, Raven David will lead enterprise-wide cyber security strategy and execution across the group’s technology and services footprint, supporting security governance, risk management, and resilience priorities aligned with customer expectations and evolving threat landscapes.
Raven joined Macquarie Technology Group in a senior security leadership capacity and progressed through roles including Group Security Manager and Group Security & Infrastructure Manager, before taking on the Group CISO position. His journey within the organisation highlights increasing responsibility across cyber security leadership and infrastructure-aligned security priorities.
Before joining Macquarie Technology Group, he served at UNSW as Manager, Cyber Security Governance, Risk & Compliance, where he helped embed key cyber security GRC functions including policy and exemption management, penetration testing governance, application security capability, third-party risk management, and security awareness and culture programs. His work also included strengthening cyber assurance practices, developing and maturing risk management and vendor risk programs, supporting quantitative risk methodology adoption (Open FAIR), and providing oversight on governance models for cloud migration initiatives.
Earlier, he worked with Sydney Water as Manager, Cyber Risk & Compliance, where he established and managed teams across cyber GRC, resilience, risk management, and ITSM governance. His scope included building a cyber security management system aligned with standards such as ISO27001 and supporting frameworks relevant to critical infrastructure obligations, as well as leading workstreams linked to security posture reporting, disaster recovery improvements, and enterprise risk processes.
He also served as Information Security Officer at Harvey Norman, working on governance policies and standards, PCI DSS compliance practices, security risk management processes, third-party risk, penetration testing and vulnerability management oversight, disaster recovery practices, and cyber security awareness initiatives.
Raven’s earlier career includes a long tenure with Sydney Water, where he served in roles spanning Cyber Risk, Audit and Compliance Specialist, Technology Risk Specialist, and Information Communication Technology Specialist, building deep foundations across IT risk frameworks, ISMS governance, business resilience alignment, ITIL-aligned practices, and operational risk transition processes. His early technology journey also includes roles with Kmart Corporation and Australian Associated Press, supporting broader ICT and network administration responsibilities.
