Udayan Dutt Appointed as President, Group HR at RPG Group

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India – May 2025 – RPG Group has announced the appointment of Udayan Dutt as President, Group HR, effective June 2, 2025. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades across top-tier global organizations, Udayan brings a deep-rooted understanding of human capital strategy, global leadership development, and organizational transformation.

In his new role, Udayan will lead RPG’s people agenda across its diverse business verticals including infrastructure, automotive tyres, IT, pharma, energy, and plantations. He will drive a renewed focus on talent, inclusion, employee well-being, and the company’s core values of Unleash Talent, Touch Lives, Outperform, and Be Happy—a philosophy that resonates with RPG’s distinctive ‘Hello Happiness’ identity.

Before joining RPG, Udayan spent over 9 years at Reckitt, where he most recently served as Vice President, HR for Global Finance, IT & Digitization, Legal & Transformation, based in the UK. He played a key role in driving global functional transformations and building resilient organizations. He also led Reckitt’s HR function across Africa, Middle East, and South Asia, and prior to that, served as Regional HR Director, South Asia.

Earlier in his career, Udayan spent nearly a decade at Unilever, where he held various leadership roles including HR Director – Marketing South Asia, HR Head – Unilever Sri Lanka, and General Manager – Reward, South Asia. He began his career with stints at Airtel, DCM Shriram, Sasken, and Hewitt Associates, gaining well-rounded expertise in compensation, HR consulting, and early-stage leadership.

An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, Udayan’s appointment signals RPG’s strategic commitment to building future-ready HR practices and nurturing an environment where innovation, high performance, and employee happiness are seamlessly integrated.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
