Boston, Massachusetts, United States, June 2026 — Vertex Pharmaceuticals has elevated Aaron Kraus to the role of Executive Director, Workforce Strategy & Innovation. In this newly established enterprise function, he will lead initiatives at the intersection of workforce planning, organizational design, AI-enabled work redesign, and enterprise transformation. His mandate is to help Vertex build a human-centered, AI-ready workforce by developing the capabilities, operating models, and ways of working required to support the company’s next phase of growth.
Aaron brings extensive experience in workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness, talent transformation, and AI-enabled workforce planning. Prior to this promotion, he served as Senior Director, Enterprise Workforce Planning & Lead HR Business Partner for Data, Technology & AI at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where he partnered with executive leadership to align business strategy with organizational design, talent strategy, and enterprise workforce planning. He led workforce planning across long-range planning, annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and execution while helping shape Vertex’s technology- and AI-enabled workforce agenda. His work also included designing AI-enabled operating models, building emerging technology career frameworks, and supporting the transformation of the company’s Data, Technology, and Engineering organization.
Earlier at Vertex, Aaron served as Senior Director, HR Business Partner for Data, Technology & AI, supporting the company’s Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Information Officer in scaling global technology, AI, computational sciences, and data science teams through strategic organizational design and talent planning. Before joining Vertex, he spent more than eight years at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he held a series of senior HR and talent leadership roles, including Vice President, Talent Partner, AVP & Talent Advisor, Director, Global People Experience, and Senior Program Manager – Selection & Assessment. During this period, he led enterprise talent strategies, organizational transformation, workforce planning, leadership development, employee experience, and technology workforce transformation.
Aaron began his career in organizational consulting and industrial-organizational psychology, holding roles with Parker Hannifin, the Center for Organizational Research at the University of Akron, and Rutland Mental Health Services, where he developed deep expertise in workforce analytics, competency modeling, organizational development, leadership assessment, and evidence-based talent practices. His broad experience uniquely positions him to lead Vertex’s next-generation workforce strategy as AI continues to reshape the future of work.
