Madalina Stoian Elevated as Regional HR Lead for Microsoft Romania, Hungary, Ukraine and Moldavia

Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, July 2026 — Microsoft has elevated Madalina Stoian to the role of Regional HR Lead – Romania, Hungary, Ukraine and Moldavia. In her expanded leadership role, she will lead the people strategy across four strategically important markets—Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, and Moldavia—partnering with business leaders to strengthen organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, employee experience, and culture while supporting Microsoft’s continued growth across the region. Her appointment reflects more than a decade of progressive HR leadership within Microsoft and a proven track record of driving organizational transformation across Europe.

Prior to her elevation, Madalina Stoian served as Senior HR Manager – Europe North, where she led HR strategies across the Europe North region, partnering with business leaders and HR teams to strengthen organizational effectiveness, employee experience, talent development, and culture. She also led cross-regional initiatives to simplify HR processes, enhance employee support at scale, and worked closely with unions and legal representatives to ensure constructive social dialogue and compliance with local labour regulations.

Earlier, Madalina served as Senior HR Business Partner – Engineering Groups, Romania & Estonia, where she partnered with engineering leadership to support the rapid expansion of Microsoft’s Romania Engineering Center. She played a key role in workforce planning, leadership development, organizational design, succession planning, diversity and inclusion, and talent acquisition while acting as Power of Attorney for Microsoft Romania, ensuring governance and compliance with local legal frameworks. Prior to that, she was HR Business Partner – Customer Experience & Support Organization, leading people strategy for Microsoft’s global Customer Experience & Support business by aligning talent, leadership, organizational transformation, compensation, and culture with business priorities.

During her earlier years at Microsoft, Madalina held several critical HR operations leadership roles including HR Service Lead, HR Operations Manager, and HR Operations Advisor. Across these positions, she built extensive expertise in HR operations, payroll governance, employee relations, compensation cycles, HR systems, compliance, process excellence, and employee lifecycle management while contributing to the establishment of Microsoft’s global HR Service Centers and strengthening HR governance across Central and Eastern Europe.

Before joining Microsoft, Madalina spent over four years with Reinvent Consulting as a Human Resources Specialist, where she managed end-to-end HR operations including recruitment, HR process design, payroll administration, labour law compliance, organizational restructuring, acquisitions, employee relations, learning initiatives, and HR systems implementation. She successfully led the implementation of Charisma HR, helping automate payroll and employee records while supporting major organizational transformation initiatives involving more than 1,000 employees.

Madalina Stoian holds a Master’s Degree in Communication and Human Resources Management from SNSPA (National University of Political Studies and Public Administration), Romania, completed between 2009 and 2011.
