Basel, Switzerland, November 2024 – Zoran Hasanbasic has been promoted to Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Strategy & Integrated Evidence Generation, TA Ophthalmology at Bayer. In this elevated role, Zoran will lead strategic initiatives to advance Bayer’s medical affairs in ophthalmology, integrating evidence generation with innovative approaches to global medical strategies.

Zoran’s journey at Bayer spans over 13 years, during which he has held various influential roles. Most recently, as Vice President, Global Head of Medical Affairs for Ophthalmology and Cell & Gene Therapies, he managed cross-functional teams to develop groundbreaking therapies, including EYLEA, and fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration. His leadership in driving strategic vision and excellence has been widely recognized across the organization.

Prior to this, Zoran served as Head of Medical Affairs for Neurology, Immunology, and Ophthalmology, where he successfully integrated therapeutic area and medical field teams, optimizing alignment across multiple regions. His contributions significantly strengthened Bayer’s leadership in critical therapeutic domains while ensuring operational efficiency.

Before joining Bayer, Zoran built a robust foundation in ophthalmology as a Senior Physician and Retina Specialist at the Center of Ophthalmology, University Hospital of Cologne. During his tenure, he contributed to clinical trials and pre-launch preparations for EYLEA, leveraging his expertise in medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery.

His early career included valuable roles as a Resident Physician in Munich and as an External Consultant for Bayer’s Global Clinical Development team, showcasing his deep-rooted commitment to advancing healthcare and innovation in medical science.
