Perth, Western Australia, December 2024 – Sophie Woodley has taken on the role of Director, People and Culture at the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). In this capacity, she will lead strategic initiatives aimed at fostering workforce excellence and aligning people and culture strategies with the department’s mission to support Western Australia’s community, industry, and resource sectors.

Sophie brings extensive experience from her tenure at DMIRS, where she most recently served as Director, Workforce Management Capability and Strategy, driving strategic workforce initiatives and enhancing human resource planning. Prior to this, she was General Manager, Office of Director General, where she managed executive operations and oversaw key leadership projects.

Her role as Executive Director Corporate Services demonstrated her ability to implement impactful people and culture strategies, complementing her earlier contributions as Project Manager, Public Sector WHS and Workplace Strategy and Manager, Work Health and Safety, where she led innovative workplace health and safety programs.

Earlier in her career, Sophie honed her expertise in occupational safety and human resources through roles such as Manager Corporate Occupational Safety and Health at Department of Mines and Petroleum, Manager Occupational Safety and Health at Department of the Attorney General, and Coordinator Health and Wellness at WorkCover WA.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Sophie contributed her expertise as a Board Member for an Independent Primary School for four years, showcasing her commitment to community development.
