Elmore, Ohio, United States, June 2025 – Emily Rockwell has been appointed as Vice President of Human Resources, Performance Materials at Materion Corporation, marking a significant advancement in her HR leadership journey. In this new role, Emily will oversee human capital strategy across eight locations, leading a team of six HR professionals and supporting a workforce of approximately 1,500 employees.
Over the past nearly three years, Emily Rockwell served as Human Resources Director at Materion Corporation, where she led HR operations across three non-union facilities. She implemented a Flexible Workforce Policy yielding over $500K in savings, boosted engagement survey participation to 92%, and led wage structure reforms that reduced voluntary resignations by 3.6%. Emily also played a pivotal role in modernizing HR operations and was instrumental in launching the ELEVATE Women’s Employee Resource Group and various community outreach initiatives.
Prior to joining Materion, Emily spent over 14 years at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, holding several leadership positions. As Human Resources Manager, she influenced site-wide decisions at a non-union facility of 680 employees, managed a $6 million budget, led the COVID-19 response, and successfully oversaw Workday HRIS implementation across the organization. She also launched the site’s first Diversity Improvement Plan and internal mobility framework.
In earlier roles at Marathon, including HR Supervisor, Senior HR Consultant, and Advanced HR Consultant, Emily demonstrated her ability to drive strategic HR outcomes, lead D&I efforts, handle union negotiations, and design workforce development strategies across geographies including Louisiana, Michigan, Kentucky, and Ohio. She was instrumental in grievance resolution, employee engagement initiatives, and change management programs across Teamster- and USW-represented refineries.
Emily began her career as an HR Consultant at Marathon’s Catlettsburg refinery, where she supported 750 union employees, participated in collective bargaining processes, and implemented new compliance programs.
