Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, June 2025 – Jamie Gibbs has been promoted to Vice President, Talent, Performance, and Culture at Wawanesa Insurance, one of Canada’s largest mutual insurance companies. In this expanded leadership role, Jamie will oversee the company’s enterprise-wide talent strategy, performance systems, and cultural transformation initiatives, helping position HR as a strategic enabler of business growth and organizational health.
Jamie has been with Wawanesa Insurance for nearly three years, most recently serving as Director, Talent & Organizational Effectiveness. In this capacity, she led a 17-member team and managed a $3 million budget to implement advanced talent strategies, redesign the HR operating model, pilot strategic workforce planning, and scale organizational design capabilities. Her efforts included one-on-one development for 41 vice presidents and full enterprise coverage in succession planning.
Prior to Wawanesa, she spent over three years at Shaw Communications, serving as Director of Learning and Development. There, she led initiatives impacting 10,000 employees and 1,200 leaders, delivering enterprise learning programs, enhancing leadership capabilities, and building foundational strategies for organization-wide skills mapping and reporting.
Earlier in her career, Jamie held progressive leadership roles at TransAlta, including Manager of HR Shared Services, Supervisor of Shared Services, and HR Business Partner. Her accomplishments included designing and optimizing operating models, rolling out enterprise-wide change management, and implementing strategic HR frameworks across HRIS, payroll, recruitment, and advisory functions.
She also held senior learning roles at ATB Financial, Intact, and Aurum Ceramic Dental Labs, where she was responsible for leadership development, corporate training, and talent enablement programs. Her breadth of experience across industries has shaped a career grounded in performance excellence, employee experience, and large-scale HR transformation.
