Alison Wilcox Returns to BT Group as Chief People and Culture Officer

London, United Kingdom, June 2025 – BT Group has announced the return of Alison Wilcox as its new Chief People and Culture Officer, reaffirming its commitment to building a people-first culture during a period of transformation and innovation. A seasoned HR leader with a deep understanding of BT’s business and culture, Wilcox is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s people strategy to support its long-term growth and purpose-driven vision.

Her appointment comes at a time when BT continues to enhance its workplace experience, develop leadership capabilities, and foster an inclusive culture that supports performance, engagement, and innovation across its global workforce. Known for her warmth, insight, and strategic acumen, Wilcox will be central to driving cultural transformation as BT advances its mission to “connect for good.”

Alison Wilcox returns to BT Group after previously serving as Group HR Director from 2015 to 2022, where she was a member of the Executive Committee. During her earlier tenure, she oversaw HR for a global workforce of nearly 100,000 employees and played a key role in group-wide business transformation, HR digitalization, and strategic M&A integration across BT’s portfolio including BT, EE, Plusnet, and Openreach.

Prior to rejoining BT, she held multiple prestigious Non-Executive Director positions, including with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Glas Cymru, and currently serves as Trustee Board Member & Nominations Committee Chair at Health Data Research UK. She also served as RemCo Chair at Shepherd Building Group, where she advised on executive remuneration and governance during a critical period of private-sector transformation.

Earlier in her career, Wilcox spent over six years at Vodafone, where she held senior HR leadership roles including Regional HR Director for Europe and Regional HR Director for Africa, Middle East & Asia Pacific. In these roles, she led strategy and integration efforts across 13 markets and oversaw HR during major cable asset acquisitions in Germany and Spain, valued at £13 billion. Her leadership impacted over 50,000 employees and contributed significantly to Vodafone’s growth across emerging and developed markets.

She began her career at Hay Group, where she worked for more than a decade as an Account Director and consulting partner, advising multinational clients in pharmaceuticals, banking, and telecom on leadership, executive assessment, and top team effectiveness.
