New Delhi, India, June 2025 — Girish Tanti, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, has been appointed Chairman of the CII Renewable Energy Manufacturing Council and the CII National Committee on Renewable Energy for the year 2025–26. His appointment comes at a strategic moment as India accelerates its transition toward achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
With more than three decades of pioneering work in the renewable energy sector, Tanti has helped shape India’s clean energy vision. His role in founding and scaling Suzlon Group into a globally recognized renewable energy solutions provider underscores his depth of industry knowledge. He also serves on global platforms such as the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), further strengthening his global leadership footprint.
In his new role at CII, Tanti will be instrumental in steering policy advocacy and industry collaboration to build a robust and self-reliant clean energy manufacturing ecosystem in India. With India’s current installed renewable capacity standing at 222 GW, doubling this will require strong private sector commitment, domestic manufacturing capabilities, and constructive engagement with government. Tanti’s leadership is expected to catalyze momentum across wind, solar, hydro, and bioenergy sectors.
An engineer by training and a global business strategist by experience, Girish Tanti holds an MBA from the University of South Wales and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology. His educational background and extensive industry exposure position him well to lead CII’s renewable energy thrust into its next growth phase.
