Toronto, Ontario, Canada, June 2025 — Rachel Espin has been appointed as the Head of Total Rewards, North America at Munich Re, marking another key milestone in her distinguished global HR leadership career. Based in Toronto, Rachel steps into this newly elevated position after an impactful four-year tenure at Munich Re across various strategic human resources roles.
In her most recent position, Rachel served as Head of Human Resources & Workplace Experience, North America Life & Health, where she led employee engagement and experience strategy across the region. Prior to this, as AVP & Strategic HR Business Partner, she was instrumental in aligning HR strategy with business goals across the life and health insurance portfolio in North America.
Before joining Munich Re, Rachel spent six years at Generali, where she held the role of Head of Human Resources & Organisation UK. She modernized the UK HR function into a strategic business partner, introduced transformational people practices, and led large-scale process automation projects—including a new HRIS implementation integrating multiple legacy systems.
Earlier, she held senior HR roles at Meridien and Sharaf Group in the UAE, where she provided strategic HR guidance on international recruitment, performance management, and organizational development across the Middle East and Far East. Her influence in driving inclusive and efficient HR practices earned her trust among senior stakeholders and the executive suite.
Rachel began her HR journey in 2005 and has worked across multiple industries and geographies, including the UK, UAE, and Canada. Her two decades of experience encompass talent strategy, workforce planning, international HR transformation, and employee experience leadership.
